WHO WE ARE
In June of 1986, James A. Ranck established his own electrical contracting company after dedicating over 12 years to the field as an electrician. Along with a partner, the company was founded under the name of Roy & Ranck Electric in Flint, Michigan. After 15 months in business, Jim became the sole owner and changed the company name to J. Ranck Electric (JRE) and the location to Coleman, Michigan. The staff included one estimator, one administrative assistant and Jim as the sole project manager. Early projects included the Bay City Mall, Graff Chevrolet’s Bay City dealership and the Marathon Gas Plant in West Branch, Michigan. Field supervision began with three outstanding foremen, one of whom is still with the company today. The other two have since retired from JRE.
As the company grew, JRE expanded into new markets, opening a branch in Sault Ste. Marie in 1995. In 1996, headquarters moved from Coleman to a newly built 30,000-square-foot facility in Mt. Pleasant, which remains the center of operations today. A Flint branch opened in 1999 to serve Southeast Michigan, and in 2022 JRE transitioned those operations to a new branch in Clio, strategically located to continue serving the same region.
Today, J. Ranck Electric is a national contractor with over $200 million in annual sales and projects across the United States. Leadership has transitioned to the second generation, with Jim's son, Adam, as President and daughter, Angie, as Vice President, continuing the vision set by Jim Ranck.

MEET OUR LEADERS
Adam J. Ranck
Chief Executive Officer / President
Adam is responsible for overall operations of the company including overseeing labor management, branch locations, and equipment. Adam completed his electrical apprenticeship in 2003 and in that same year started in the office. He has also worked as warehouse manager, project manager, and Flint Branch manager.
Angie M. Wood
Vice President / HR Director
Angie has been responsible for managing the human resources department and overseeing personnel since 2005. She joined the company after graduating from Central Michigan University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She has worked her way through the company holding positions in office administration and marketing.
