Training focus on Safety in 2017
February 8, 2017
The first quarter of 2017 was time for training at J. Ranck Electric. In January, employees gathered at the company’s Mt. Pleasant location for training on rigging, excavation, and crane hand signals (pictured above). Additional training sessions on excavating and traffic control were on the schedule throughout the Spring.
The rigging, excavation, and traffic control training sessions were funded by a Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) grant that J. Ranck Electric has received in the amount of $36,962 from the State of Michigan Talent Investment Agency. Through the Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! Office, JRE applied for and was granted the funds to train employees between January 9 and March 20, 2017. In total, 140 JRE employees were trained in this effort.
“The grant has allowed for more in-depth training than we would have been able to offer otherwise,” says JRE Safety Director Chris Brown, “The timing is perfect as we focus on our new Safe 365 campaign: Every Decision. Every Day.”
Developed to increase the quality and competitiveness of Michigan’s employers, statewide, 2017 STTF grants total $17,921,190 to train employees at 482 different Michigan companies.
