J. Ranck Electric to host Skilled Trades Night for area students

Mt. Pleasant, Mich., February 27, 2015 – J. Ranck Electric, Inc. (JRE) invites all 7th – 12th grade students and their parents to its company headquarters, located off Broomfield Road at 1993 Gover Parkway, Mt. Pleasant, for JRE’s first-ever Skilled Trades Night. On Wednesday, March 18students will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the many career opportunities that skilled trades offer.

The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. with registration starting at 5:30 p.m. Pizza will be served and JRE employees will talk about how they have advanced through their career path in skilled trades. Students will set out on interactive tours and experience the equipment and skills used to build some of JRE’s premier projects. To close the night, the students will reconvene in JRE’s training room to have any remaining questions answered by a panel of industry and labor experts.

“The future of our industry depends on new talent entering the skilled trades. We see the demand for skilled labor, but often witness teens only considering jobs that require a college education,” Angie Wood, J. Ranck Electric Vice President and Human Resources Director said. “While college is right for some young adults, JRE employees can attest that obtaining a 4-year college degree is not the only route to a steady and rewarding career. Our goal is to have students and parents leave with the information they need to make an informed career choice, knowing that skilled trades are indeed viable career paths that can provide them with a prosperous future.”

This event is free to area students and their parents. Attendees must register online (www.jranck.com/current/skilledtrades) prior to the evening and students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, teacher, etc.) to attend.
