J. Ranck Electric Recognized as a 2018 Top Solar EPC Contractor

Aug 30, 2018

J. Ranck Electric (JRE) has been recognized by Solar Power World magazine for its contributions to the solar industry. JRE achieved a rank of 22 out of 233 solar EPC companies on the magazine’s 2018 Top Solar EPCs list and an overall rank of 49 out of 450 solar companies on the 2018 Top Solar Contractors list. On both lists, JRE is the top Michigan contractor.

The Top Solar Contractors list is developed by Solar Power World to recognize the work completed by solar contractors across the United States. The Top Solar EPCs list ranks companies that primarily perform engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work. Produced annually, the lists celebrate the achievements of U.S. solar developers, subcontractors, and installers within the utility, commercial, and other markets, and ranks contractors by kilowatts installed in the previous year.

Solar Power World is very excited about the 2018 class of Top Solar Contractors,” said Kelly Pickerel, editor in chief of Solar Power World. “Our 2017 list showed impressive installation numbers after 2016’s huge rush to meet ITC requirements, and many companies were hesitant to show unavoidable installation dips after last year’s high. We’re happy to feature a strong group of thriving U.S. solar installers on the 2018 Top Solar Contractors list. These companies truly are at the top of their markets.”

The U.S. solar market had its biggest year ever in 2016, installing more than 15,000 MW. Although installations in 2017 dropped to 10,608 MW, the total still represents 40% growth over 2015 numbers. The year-over-year downturn can be attributed to the large influx of 2016 projects rushing to meet the anticipated expiration of a 30% federal tax credit that was eventually renewed.

A major highlight of 2017 was the non-residential market growing 28% year-over-year, the fourth straight year of annual growth for commercial, industrial, and community solar. The first quarter of 2018 showed a 13% growth over the first quarter of 2017, and J. Ranck Electric will continue to contribute to the wave of increasing solar generation.

Included in JRE’s total of 36,082.5 kW installed in 2017 are SpartanSolar #1 Community Array in Cadillac, Michigan, rooftop solar arrays on ten Target stores in Michigan, and American Legion 20 MW Solar Array in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, among other JRE Renewable Energy Projects. At the time of submission to the 2018 Solar Power World list, JRE had installed 205,419 kW of solar throughout the Midwest, plus Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and more. From small off-grid arrays atop a tree house to utility-scale megawatt projects, JRE’s extensive fleet and manpower come together to build a quality system while meeting every deadline. JRE self-performs the majority of the work while coordinating all necessary inspections, permits, and utility interconnections.

“It’s great to see the company recognized and ranked among the best solar EPC companies in the country,” said JRE Business Development Director Scott Walker, “We’re looking forward to seeing continued growth in the solar energy industry and J. Ranck Electric’s presence in the industry, too.”
