J. Ranck Electric’s (JRE) Clinton River Trail Amenity Improvements project was recently recognized as Project of the Year by the Michigan Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA), in the award category “Quality of Life Less than $1 Million.” JRE teamed with Anderson, Eckstein and Westrick, Inc. as well as the cities of Auburn Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland County Planning, and the Friends of the Clinton River Trail for a successful collaboration, and is honored to be recognized with the Project of the Year Award.

According to the APWA Michigan Chapter, their Project of the Year Award “was established to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the consultant/architect/engineer, and the contractor who, working together, complete public works projects.” JRE Project Manager Justin Thielen accepted the award on behalf of JRE at the ceremony, held at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme.

In Spring of 2016, JRE installed ADA compliant shade shelters, pedestrian signs, decorative outdoor trash receptacles, and picnic tables along the Clinton River Trail. The project also included installing decorative monuments which display the rich history of the Clinton River Trail which follows a former rail line, once known as the Michigan Airline, through 16 miles of Oakland County communities.
