Above & Beyond - Field Recipient

The 2007 recipient of the Above and Beyond Award is a person who is characterized by strong but quiet leadership, self-motivation, distinct loyalty, and commitment.  This recipient has been an accomplished, respected JRE foreman for 19 years.  We respectfully acknowledge Bob Lang as the recipient of the Above and Beyond Award for 2007.

Bob Lang goes above and beyond on every project that he is given.  His projects are always completed on-time, safely, and in accordance with the owner's specifications.  This is a result of a great crew, but every great crew needs a great leader.  That is why when JRE has a project that needs to be pushed, carefully analyzed, or pre-planned, we look to Bob Lang.  In fact, it can confidently be said that Bob Lang is the best layout man J. Ranck Electric has ever had.

Bob also goes above and beyond in his demonstration of safety.  Bob has never in his 19 years of employment at J. Ranck Electric had an accident himself.  This is a result of a man who knows the dangers of his work, who respects the limitations of himself, and who honors his family by making it a priority to come home safe every night.

Bob's early career with J. Ranck Electric has seen him manage projects such as the Tawas WWTP and the Bay City Mall, which was our largest project at the time.  Later on in Bob's career, he became known as Mr. Home Depot, having completed numerous Home Depots in Michigan.  Bob's experience has spanned multiple streetscapes, the Bay City WWTP, Holly WWTP, and many, many more.

Specifically, in 2007, Bob was instrumental in the startup of the Turtle Creek Casino in Traverse City.  Once he got that project off the ground, he then moved over to the Standish Casino, on which he is currently supervising the project and 20 electricians.  Simultaneously, Bob was completing Holly WWTP.  His ability to turn over, start up, and finish up 3 projects all at the same time is highly respectable.

Bob's qualities are honorable and endless.  Most importantly, he is committed to J. Ranck Electric, Inc.  Bob is our longest-employed field electrician.  Second, he is honest and true to his word.  If Bob tells you he can do something, it will be done.  He never places or displaces blame; he understands that he is part of a team.  Lastly, he is a leader.  A good leader exudes a strong and confident, yet calm demeanor.  He is the one people look to in times of stress and uncertainty.  A leader is one that will calm the crowd and find a solution, not stir the pot and create chaos.

Because of these personal qualities and his outstanding, consistent abilities, we honor Bob Lang with the Above and Beyond Award for 2007.
