Above & Beyond - Office Recipient

< Back

The 2004 recipient of the Above and Beyond Award is a man who is characterized by limitless commitment to the company and a notable drive to succeed.  He is a master of his craft, who possesses the energy and the discipline to perform his job responsibilities beyond the normal limits.

Mike Wichlinski is this person who in 2004 went above and beyond in his service to the estimating department by handling the most significant amount of bid spec projects, change order quotes, construction change directives, and design-build estimates, resulting in the procurement of the major portion of project work for 2004.  The myriad of challenges throughout the year compelled Mike to go over, under, and through the hoops to assume command of his job obligations and to meet demanding expectations.

Amid the 2004 staffing changes and the most unique project challenges of the year, Mike was called upon time and again to perform beyond his typical job routines.  He was directly involved in the quoting of nearly 1,000 CCDs for the Life Sciences Institute project and the Mason Haven Hall project at the University of Michigan, often tenuously quoting and re-quoting many of them four or five times each.  Through this very stressful time, Mike managed to maintain a disciplined and positive attitude while remaining reliable and steadfast.

Mike goes beyond his limits to serve the company by handling a huge volume of work, spending long hours on the job, and never saying "no."  He demonstrates with excellence the difference between ordinary and extraordinary by often taking off a project that would typically require two or more estimators to handle.  He is efficient and accurate and possesses the right blend of integrity, larceny, and gamble to handle most of our major bid projects.

Because he skillfully executes his job responsibility above and beyond, we respectfully acknowledge Mike Wichlinski as the recipient of the Above and Beyond Award for 2004.
