J. Ranck Electric invites area students to learn about careers in skilled trades

February 18, 2016

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. — J. Ranck Electric, Inc. (JRE) invites students, grades 7-12, and their parents to its company headquarters, located off Broomfield Road at 1993 Gover Parkway, Mt. Pleasant, for JRE’s second annual Skilled Trades Night. “The amount of positive feedback from parents, teachers, and administrators was overwhelming after last year’s Skilled Trades Night,” J. Ranck Electric President Adam Ranck said. “We are committed to sharing our enthusiasm about the trades because a solid skilled workforce will make our region, and our state, a great place to live and work for years to come.”

On Wednesday, March 9, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., students will explore how skilled trades can provide a rewarding and stable career. The evening will kick off with pizza, then students will break out into stations located throughout JRE’s campus. Each station features a different interactive demonstration of the skills, tools, and equipment that the JRE team uses to build electrical and communications projects throughout the country. After the station tours, attendees will reconvene inside for a meet-and-greet with electricians, operators, construction managers, and all the diverse team members who work together to make our projects successful.

“This year we are making our event even more hands on and breaking out some heavy equipment to give young people a behind-the-scenes look at what our employees do during their workday,” explains Angie Wood, J. Ranck Electric Vice President and Human Resources Director said. “Our goal is to have students leave with the information they need to choose a career that matches their unique skills and interests.”

This event is free and open to area students and their parents. Attendees must register online (www.jranck.com/skilledtrades) beforehand and students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, teacher, etc.) to attend.
